Since I’m a park ranger, obviously a lot of time is spent in the woods and believe it or not, even my favorite pastime is camping with my family. I never get sick of it and I personally think that it is the best way for a family to spend their free time. Technology sometimes ruins the whole outdoor experience for kids nowadays. Since all of us camp together, the Eureka Copper Canyon 8 person Family Tent is the perfect solution. The tent boasts of a 10 x 13 ft floor space and a height of 7 ft making it perfect for our family of five, our gear and maybe even a couple of friends.
A unique feature of the tent is that it doesn’t boast of any stylish architecture. It simply consists of vertical walls so that campers can gain the maximum out of it. The removable curtain divider can be used to create two separate spaces within your tent while there are two separate doors for each section for private entry. When exploring the great outdoors, chances are that you should always be prepared for unpredictable weather. So, rain protection features and good ventilation in the tent is a must. Since the Eureka Copper Canyon 8 Person Family Tent offers both features with six large windows that help in excellent air-flow, a bathtub style floor area to prevent the water from seeping in and a rain fly with clear panel skylights to keep away the wetness from the top part of the tent. Even setting up the tent is quite easy while the tent consists of 9 steel and fiberglass poles that can easily slip into the sleeves of the tent. Extra features include a sweep out point which helps you to keep the tent clean and a hanging gear loft where you can keep your breakable gear.
Eureka Copper Canyon 8 Person Tent Review
Here are the Pros:
More Space: having more space in your tent when camping is always a valued feature. The Eureka Copper Canyon 8 Person Family Tent offers you just that with its vertical structure. Since we have a family of five, we can easily fit in, get a friend or two and store our gear as well. We don’t have any problem when standing up inside the tent and there is no bending and hunching required.
Rain Protection: No one would want a leaky tent when camping in a rainstorm. We’ve had our fair share of rainy nights when camping using the Eureka Copper Canyon 8 Person Family Tent but we had never faced a leaky and uncomfortable situation. The rain fly offers clear skylights while the bathtub type floor area keeps the campers dry and comfy.
Simple Set Up: Two people are more than sufficient to set up the tent without any problem. The poles and sleeves are easy to locate and fit in while even the children can help you if they please. You don’t have to spend hours figuring out where things should fit in. The tent can be set up with little or no fuss at all.
The Removable Curtain: it would be lovely to have a separate room for the adults and the kids since the kids love to be on their own. With a door that opens out to each section, we can access either sides of the tent without disturbing the sleeping campers or messing up the duffels. The curtain can be removed easily if we want the whole tent as one big room.
Let’s check out the Cons of Eureka Copper Canyon 8 Person Tent
The Weight: The tent weighs about 35 pounds and I don’t think it would be ideal for a backpacking trip that will take you to your camp ground. Since this type of camping tent will be mainly used by families with children, chances are that you would be driving up to the camping site which means it will not be a big issue.
Lightweight Pegs: Since the pegs are a bit lightweight, it may not be suitable for all ground types. The pegs might not be suitable for all ground types especially if it’s rocky. However, it’s not an issue all the time. You might be able to use extra pegs to keep it secure but make sure that you take extra from other tents that you may have at home.
The Bottom Line
The Eureka Copper Canyon 8 Person Family Tent for me personally has allowed to experience and enjoy many family camping trips without a fuss. Spacious enough to accommodate my family and a couple of friends, we always enjoy starry nights through the clear skylight. Since there are windows, the tent is well ventilated while it is perfect to use in wet weather. Setting the tent up and taking it down is hassle free and two people can easily get the job done.
